Lenten Bible Study - Post #3

Friday after Ash Wednesday

Read Matthew 21:1-11.

What were the people thinking as they celebrated Jesus’ entry?  Who did they believe Jesus to be?

In Matthew 16:15, Jesus asks Peter a pointed question:  “Who do you say that I am?”  That is a question we each must answer.  Who do you say Jesus is?

Notes on the text:

“Hosanna” was a Hebrew invocation meaning “O save” or “God grant salvation.”  By Jesus’ era, it had become a shout of joyful acclamation.  It is a reference to Psalm 118:25-26.
