Read Matthew 21:18-22
Jesus uses the fig tree to teach his disciples about
prayer. What is Jesus’ point? How have you experienced the power of prayer
in your life?
Notes on the text:
Jesus’ action at first seems harsh, but it is really in line
with the symbolic actions of the Old Testament prophets. Unusual acts to illustrate a point were
common among the prophets. For instance,
Ezekiel packed his bags and started digging a tunnel under the city wall
(Ezekiel 12:7-11) as a sign of the coming exile.
